As a Shift Lead, you will apply your technical and leadership background, acquire new skills, and contribute to the success of our team in a clean and safe environment. You will be responsible for leading and working alongside a shift of machine operators, providing hands-on operational support and fostering collaboration with warehouse and facility production areas. This position will directly report to the Production Manager.

Pay Range   $25+/hourly depending on experience

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Operations and Support
    • Communicate with production management regarding production schedules and customer orders
    • Coordinate startups by communicating with teams to ensure lines are prepared for production
    • Oversee warehouse duties and coordinate inbound/outbound shipments as needed
    • Monitor the status of all production areas as assigned, fostering a team-focused environment
    • Ensure the integrity of data into EP tools through frequent checks on all shifts
    • Ensure adherence to production schedules, review raw/ packaging materials availability, and auxiliary equipment readiness
    • Support product development and sample runs, collect materials necessary to support organizational and operations goals
    • Prepare labeling required for samples and contribute to training employees in new processes and procedures across shifts
    • Collect and store documentation and samples essential for production runs, performing quality checks as needed
    • Oversee the completion of operational preventive maintenance tasks, including screen changer frequencies, NGR PMs, and calibration of scales
    • Ability to cover any production and warehouse position when needed
  • HR and Admin
    • Review and maintain time cards and vacation requests of employees and organize coverage for call outs/vacations
    • Handle employee concerns and collaborate with plant management and HR on resolution
    • Manage employee performance by addressing issues, conducting evaluations, and implementing corrective actions, including the issuance of write-ups when necessary
    • Follow and direct company regulations such as adherence to attendance policy, code of ethics, company handbook, etc.
  • Training and Development
    • Overseeing the completion of training and record keeping of hourly employees for both training cards and safety
    • Lead 5S initiatives around the plant to ensure a well-organized and efficient workspace
    • Ensure operational consistency by maintaining process instructions, protocols, and recipes

Your Skillset

  • Hands-on approach in training, operations, and effective problem-solving
  • Skilled in understanding and applying technical aspects, contributing to informed decision-making in operational processes
  • Strong knowledge of machines in a manufacturing setting (plastic extrusion a plus)
  • Ability to fulfill physical requirements, including walking, standing, stooping, and climbing
  • Capacity to lift a maximum of 60 pounds and stand for an eight-hour work shift
  • Flexibility to work night, weekend, and holiday shifts; 24/7 operation may require adjusted/ on-call shifts

Preferred Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required; Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of industrial experience, plastic extrusion manufacturing experience a plus
  • Previous supervisory experience in a production shift setting required
  • Strong understanding of production processes, machinery, and quality control
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to motivate and guide a team
  • Proficiency in utilizing computer applications relevant to manufacturing operations
  • Familiarity with safety protocols and regulations in a manufacturing environment
